A North Carolina physician assistant had a relationship with a 15-year-old boy that included sending explicit pictures and videos to the victim.

After pleading guilty to 2 counts of felony indecent liberties with a child, Kim Marie Latterner, a former physician assistant, was sentenced to a minimum of one year and four months in prison this September, according toThe Charlotte Observer.

After her conviction, the North Carolina Medical Board plans to revoke her physician assistant’s license, reportedWSOCtv.comThe medical board sent Latterner a letter outlining their plans to revoke her license, unless she requests a hearing within 60 days.

Latterner, 44, was a physician assistant with FastMed Urgent Care in Monroe. She was charged in December 2015 with 11 counts of statutory rape/sex offense against a teenager and disseminating obscene material to a minor.

TheObserverreported that following her arrest in December 2015, Latterner was no longer employed at FastMed, and the practice said in the report that “the alleged action has no connection to FastMed.”

Police said that Latterner had a relationship with a 15-year-old boy that lasted for an extended period of time, between 6 months and a year, reportedWBTV.com. Additionally, court documents stated that Latterner also sent nude photos and videos of herself to the minor.

Police added that the relationship had nothing to do with Latterner’s job as a PA.

“The victim actually came in with his family and reported it,” said Officer Tim Aycock of the Matthews Police, as reported byWBTV.

Officers advised that when it comes to children, parents should be keeping tabs on them.

“We would just tell people, especially the parents, just be nosy,” Aycock said in the report. “That’s just the mere fact of it. Be nosy, find out what your children are doing. Especially the teenagers. Those ages, they usually have more independence [and] freedom, but that’s when you really need to watch what they’re doing and no one is taking advantage of them.”
